The Children and Young People’s Health Partnership: an update

The aim of the Children and Young People’s Health Partnership is to improve everyday children’s healthcare by focusing on:

  • Preventing ill health
  • Building on existing services and strategies
  • Supporting staff to develop skills and approaches
  • Helping children and families to better manage their health.

This year working groups for each of the three strands of the long-term conditions project – asthma, epilepsy and mental health - have been set up and have begun to develop new models of care for these conditions.

Asthma and epilepsy groups have been modelling plans to increasing specialist nurse support, particularly community based, to help children with these conditions stay healthy.

To support the modelling work, the groups are building evidence bases for the conditions.

Upcoming activities include a ‘deep dive’ into primary care data to better understand the current picture of care for children with asthma and epilepsy, and an audit of hospital epilepsy case notes.

The Children and Young People’s Health Partnership includes:

Evelina London Children’s Healthcare

Lambeth and Southwark Clinical Commissioning Groups

Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital and South London and Maudsley NHS foundation trusts

Lambeth and Southwark Councils

King’s College London

Children and families.

It is supported by Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity.

The groups have benefited from excellent representation from our partner organisations. If you know anyone who would like to get involved, please contact Harriet Ward (Project Manager)   harriet.ward@gstt.nhs.uk.
