Ground broken on the new Cancer Centre in Sidcup

On 21 November cancer survivor June Casson joined local MP James Brokenshire at a special ceremony at Queen Mary’s Hospital (QMH) in Sidcup to mark the groundbreaking of the new Guy’s and St Thomas’ Cancer Centre on the site.

Unified Point of Access for ERR and @home - the easiest way to refer adult patients

As of Monday 1 December there is now a unified point of access (UPA) for all referrals to both Enhanced Rapid Response (ERR) and @home across Lambeth and Southwark.

Talk with TALK

TALK is the telephone advice service for GPs caring for frail older people in Lambeth and Southwark. The service has now been expanded to include TALK services for GPs seeking speciality paediatric and acute medicine advice.

Plastic surgery service - providing planned and emergency surgery

The plastic surgery department at Guy’s and St Thomas’ offers a standalone plastic surgery service, as well as working with other clinical teams to provide integrated assessment and treatment for patients.

From 29 November 2014 to 26 April 2015, Evelina London will be running an out of hours health visiting service at weekends and on Bank Holidays.

Free Vitamin D Scheme in Lambeth and Southwark

Lambeth and Southwark CCGs and local councils have funded a universal free Vitamin D scheme for:

  • All pregnant women
  • Mothers with children aged less than 12 months
  • All children under 4 years.

A new community dietetic team based at Dulwich Hospital has been set up to test how best to provide a service to adults living in Lambeth and Southwark who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition due to illness, old age or psychological issues.

Pressure ulcer cases in Lambeth and Southwark are falling thanks to the Zero Pressure campaign led by nurses at Guy’s and St Thomas’.   More than 700 staff from nursing and residential homes have been trained to spot and act on the early signs of pressure ulcers.
