Welcome 2018

A warm welcome to the first Guy’s and St Thomas’ LGBT+ and allies newsletter of 2018.

Firstly, as new chairs to the Forum we’d like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Jayne King, Eric Pirozzoli and Alex Risorto (previous co-chairs) for all the hard work they have done for the Forum in the past. They have nurtured this group from a few people with a common goal to create an environment of inclusiveness in the trust, to heading up one of the largest groups from an NHS hospital to march in London Pride, an amazing achievement.

2017 was a very exciting year for our group with again more than 100 of our staff marching at London Pride and taking part in Black Pride, LGBT History Month celebrations, a bowling night and our mince pies Christmas party. We had four members meetings though out the year followed by staff socials and our Twitter now has nearly 900 followers, and more staff have been joining our forum this year.

Looking ahead to 2018 we are hoping to have an even bigger turn out at London Pride and Black Pride this year. We also want to organise more social activities, grow links with our local LGBT networks and encourage more people to join our Forum.

As a start we’d like to hear what you think of the Forum and how we can best support you. Let you know what you think by getting in touch by email or filling out our survey.

Looking forward to seeing you all in 2018.

Éilis and Panos, LGBT+ and allies Staff Forum Co-Chairs.
