What a wonderful pride weekend!

We wish to thank all those who marched with us at London Pride on Saturday and the many more who came to Black Pride on Sunday.

It was fantastic to see how many staff attended the brunch, the parade and the after party. Hannah Coffey (Director of Improvement) and Marie McDonald (Director of Quality & Assurance) joined us in the celebrations.

If you wish to share any pictures you have taken at Pride please email them to lgbtforum@gstt.nhs.uk.We are keen to get feedback about your Pride experience this year, just drop us an email with your thoughts.

You can see all the pictures we have taken by visiting our twitter account: https://twitter.com/GSTTlgbt

Last but not least, a huge "Thank you" to Unison and Unite for sponsoring the LGBT+ and allies network this year. All our activities would not have been possible without their financial support.

Black Pride

We attended Black Pride for the second year and our Guy's and St Thomas' stall had hundreds of contacts throughout the day.

A special thank you to Kieranne, Claire, James, Anatole and Achyuta for showing such passion when talking about our sexual health services and how to become a member of the Trust

Senior leaders supporting pride weekend

This year we launched a twitter campaign to promote Pride weekend. We had many staff and governors taking pictures holding our Pride posters.

Our senior leaders at Guy's and St Thomas' took part in this campaign to actively support Pride march and Black Pride. A special thank you to our Executive Sponsor Julie Screaton for supporting the network in this campaign.

Pride flag on North Wing

It was absolutely brilliant to see the rainbow flag flying on North Wing during Pride weekend.

This was the first time we have been allowed to put the flag up, something we feel particularly proud of.

Evelina is leading on rainbow badges

Dr Mike Farquhar is championing a campaign to increase support for LGBT children and adolescents at the Evelina. He had a number of NHS rainbow badges made up and sent out to key individuals across the country to help promote his campaign.

Having staff members wearing a rainbow badge gives a clear message to patients, staff and service users that not only are we an inclusive employer but also a safe place to receive treatment and a safe place to talk to staff if they have any questions about being LGBT. He has secured charity funding to make his vision a reality within the Evelina. This is a really important campaign as it focusses on children and adolescents at an important stage in their lives.

Movie night: Love Simon - 26 July Medicinema

Our next LGBT+ and allies movie night is Love Simon, a 2018 drama/romance film directed by Greg Berlanti.

Everyone deserves a great love story, but for 17-year-old Simon Spier, it's a little more complicated. He hasn't told his family or friends that he's gay, and he doesn't know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he's fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.

Date, time and venue: Thursday 26 July, 7pm, MediCinema at St Thomas’.

The screening is free and open to patients, staff and their guests. A small voluntary contribution to support Medicinema on the day will be appreciated.

Brighton and Hove Pride - Saturday 4th August

Pride celebrations are not over yet! We have received an invite to march with South East Coast Ambulance Service in the parade at Brighton Pride.

Tickets are limited and dealt on a first come first serve basis, please register via http://bit.ly/SECAmbPride2018 using the password LoveisLove. Download the  invitation flyer here

For any queries, please email pride@secamb.nhs.uk.

Equality and diversity week/IDAHO

Last May we celebrated Equality and Diversity Week, International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHO) and Nurses Day by holding stalls at various events across the Trust. It was great to speak about our forum to many staff and patients.

Big Conversation on diversity and inclusion

We had an amazing afternoon at the Senior Leadership Conference last April. Dr Mike Hill from Royal Navy was such an inspirational speaker on the diversity and inclusion panel.

It was fantastic to see so many personal pledges to make change happen!
