Nurse returns after 65 years

A retired nurse who trained at St Thomas’ Hospital in 1952 recently returned to the Trust to mark the NHS’s 70th year.

Grace Jones, 89, visited the maternity unit to see how much it has changed since leaving the hospital 65 years ago. She shared her memories of what it was like to work in the early days of the NHS.

Grace says: “The humanity, dedication, understanding and expertise remains in the staff at St Thomas’ and in the hard working staff of the NHS.”
