What is the role of your team?
The mailroom teams work for Swiss Post Solutions. We provide the mail service for the whole Trust and parts of the community services.

 

We deal with all incoming internal and external mail, arrange same day and overnight couriers, as well as all the international mail, which involves sending international couriers to deliver and collect items worldwide.


Tell us about a typical day
The teams work Monday to Friday and start their day around 7.30am. We begin by sorting all of the incoming Royal Mail items, which could be anything from three bags to 30 bags a day. All incoming mail has to be in the department pigeon holes for 10am.

 

On a yearly basis the teams handle more than six million incoming items, send out over four million items of mail, and arrange more than 15,000 same day courier jobs.

 

What’s the best thing about your job?
Although we work for Swiss Post Solutions, we feel that we help make a difference and contribute to this great place and the work it carries out. I have been working here for almost 20 years and every day is different which I love.
