Health visiting extended service

Health visitors in Lambeth and Southwark will now be able to offer an extended service to families with children under the age of five. All health visitors will be providing extra health education, health promotion and family/parenting skills.

All families will have access to specialist groups to help support children with challenging behaviours and development challenges. The support groups will be available at home, in children’s centres, in early year’s settings, or in GP surgeries.

The full health visiting teams will also be providing:

  • Antenatal visits for all women expecting a baby by 28 weeks of pregnancy, not just first time mothers
  • Follow-up new birth visit
  • Weaning visit at four months
  • More targeted support visit instead of having to refer onto specific services.

For more information or advice from the Evelina London health visiting team, please use their new email address healthvisitingservice@gstt.nhs.uk.
