What is the role of the forum?

Guy’s and St Thomas’ disability forum is a safe space for staff to discuss physical and mental health needs in the workplace. The forum provides support for staff members with disabilities and long term health conditions. All staff can join the forum and allies are welcome.

Tell us more about the work you do

We are here to listen to our members concerns and implement positive changes within Guy’s and St Thomas’ for staff working with a disability or long term health condition. We organise various events, provide advice to managers on making reasonable adjustments, and provide input to support the Workforce Disability Equality Standard. Recently we created the staff health passport and have contributed to the work involved to become a Disability Confident employer.

What’s the best thing about the forum?

The best thing is being able to implement positive changes. The forum is a great place for staff to connect and share experiences and it’s a privilege to be able to improve the working lives of staff with disabilities and long term health conditions and to raise awareness. We have recently had our first webinar and it was fantastic to hear members share the positive effect that the forum has had on their lives.
